Physical Plant
After moving into our new Highland Commons Building, it was apparent that three modifications were required to improve the level of care and service provided to our patient population.

In 2006, Campus Health Service renovated the Pharmacy to enhance the level of confidentiality for patients interacting with staff and to provide additional space for a greater array of Over-The-Counter products.

In 2008 , the waiting room for the Counseling and Psych Services (CAPS) unit was expanded to afford patients greater confidentiality when dealing with the reception/intake staff and to offer a less congested and more tranquil environment in which to wait.

In 2010, additional consultative offices were constructed for the Counseling and Psych Services (CAPS) to house professional staff additions required to meet increased demand for mental health services.

System-related
In 2005, Campus Health Service moved to an Electronic Health Record system that has allowed a greater level of communication to occur between health care professionals within the Campus Health Service as well as an enhanced level of real time medical/mental health information availability. In addition, orders for most prescriptions, laboratory and x-ray procedures can be electronically sent to the appropriate department within the Campus Health Service for rapid and accurate disposition.

Very importantly, the security and confidentiality of every patient’s medical/mental health information is extremely well protected with dedicated servers, firewalls, passwords, appropriate permission level assignment/control and back-up systems.

Now the patient population can make appointments on-line, complete health history and other forms from their computer and communicate via e-mail with their practitioner.

Another system improvement comes through the Women’s Health Clinic where a greater number of “same day” appointments (within 24-hours) have been added to the appointment scheduling system to better accommodate the need for more timely access to these services.
