***We are full for Spring 2012***

How can I volunteer at Campus Health?
Thank you for your interest in volunteering at The University of Arizona Campus Health Service. We currently have student volunteers shadowing primarily the nursing staff and in some cases, the providers.  The person you are shadowing must first ask permission from the patient to allow you in the room. If you are permitted in the room, you will be trusted with information you must keep confidential. With time, you will become more comfortable interacting with health care professionals and patients, utilize your anatomy & physiology and pharmacology, and see how health care is delivered in a clinic setting.

Beginning in Fall, 2012, there will no longer be a wait list. We will interview candidates in May to fill volunteer positions for the academic year. Deadline for interview consideration will be April 1st. If you are selected to join the volunteer staff  you must meet with Patricia Rodriguez, our Human Resources Representative, to demonstrate that you have completed FERPA, Sexual Harassment training and signed the Campus Health Service confidentiality agreement.  You will also need to meet with Rose Mary Jacob, our Occupational Health Nurse,  who will make sure you have the appropriate immunizations necessary to keep you safe in our clinic. You are responsible for costs of immunizations or titers needed for you to volunteer in our clinic. During your visit with our Occupational Health Nurse, she will also register you for Blood Borne Pathogens Training. This class will teach you how to protect yourself from blood borne pathogens during your clinical experience. It will be your responsibility to ensure that you complete the class. Please provide Shari Overland with a copy of the certificate of attendance.

For volunteer and internship opportunities with Health Promotion and Preventive Services (HPPS), please contact the HPPS department directly at 621-6483.

Counseling and Psych Services (CAPS) does not take student volunteers and any internships/externships are done through their prospective colleges.

If you have further questions about  this experience,  please contact Patricia at : patricia@health.arizona.edu or 520-626-6903.
